Julie's Quest

Hello, and welcome to my blog. My blog is about the trials and tribulations of writing, where we celebrate successes and commiserate our near misses. We tell it like it is here and will do our very best to help you on the road to being published and pick you up after the rejections (they will come!) Whether you are a professional or amateur writer you will find something useful here.

I hope you enjoy reading my posts and will visit again soon.

Happy Writing

Done it again!

I am sitting here all cosy and warm. My Christmas tree is up and I'm sipping mulled wine, celebrating the fact that for the second year running I have managed to complete NaNoWriMo with days to spare! Last year I was in my Tesco tartan pyjamas, but tonight I'm fully dressed, relieved and very, very, happy! Here's to editing both my NaNo novels and to going for it again next year. NaNoWriMo - what a wonderful experience!

Congratulations to you! And what a fitting way to celebrate. Nothing like a good bit of mulled wine. Well done for your hard work :)

That's fantastic news, Julie. And with days to spare. Well done! I can't believe how well organised you are with your tree up and everything. You're putting the rest of us to shame.

Thanks, Carole, although my celebrating has been curtailed somewhat by a d&v virus. Daughter had it, I'm just at the tail end of it, and Dave's got a chest infection! So we've had a great time! But I'm so glad I managed to finished NaNo before it took hold, having the cold was bad enough. Think I need a tonic.

Hi, Nri

And thanks.

I'm hoping to have more mulled wine whan I'm feeling better. Managed to walk my daughter to school through the snow this am but think I tried to do too much too soon and had to come home again. But, after resting today and eating a bit more ( I realise flu is good for the diet but this was beyond a joke!) I'm hoping to be back in school tomorrow. I haven't even wanted to write - now that's a sure sign somethings not right.

Hi, Di

Yes, I managed to finish a couple of days early which is always a bonus. I wanted to keep going with it and finish the whole first draft but the bugs got in the way. Never mind. I'm sure I'll catch up when the germs have gone.

Hi, Lynne

Thank you. I just hope I can do something with it - it's not in a pretty state at the moment1

Hi, Teresa

Thank you. Just been reading your light house story in the Xmas Fiction Feast. Very moving - well done.

Thanks, Christine

I certainly learned a lot from the last time I did it last year and it really helped me through this year's NaNo. I think NaNo really helps to focus your attention on the process of writing and not being too particular about it. You either hit your word target or above it every day and have 50,000 words at the end of Nov, or you don't! My word count, generally, for the rest of my writing remained high after NaNo last year. So I'm hoping this germs blip will clear up so I can get on with it!

Hi, Simon,

Thanks chuck! We have some successes to discuss at the next meeting don't we! What with Sue Ross, Brenda and myself completing NaNo. That's over 150,000 words between us! How long have we got?!

Hi, Sue

And a yabbadabbadooo to you too!

Just said to Simon that between Brenda, you and myself, we've written over 150,000 words. Now that's worth celebrating - when I'm feeling better.

As someone who's thought about doing it for a couple of years and never managed, I'm in awe. Very well done, Julie.
