Julie's Quest

Hello, and welcome to my blog. My blog is about the trials and tribulations of writing, where we celebrate successes and commiserate our near misses. We tell it like it is here and will do our very best to help you on the road to being published and pick you up after the rejections (they will come!) Whether you are a professional or amateur writer you will find something useful here.

I hope you enjoy reading my posts and will visit again soon.

If You Do One Thing .....

If you do one thing for your writing this week - give yourself the gift of time to get it down on paper. Once it's down on paper you have something to work with, and something is better than nothing. It doesn't matter how rushed it is and don't worry if it doesn't make sense. Don't fret if your spelling and grammar are off. Don't worry that your character's names change half way through the story (mine often do!) Forget about perfection - just get it down so that when you have more time you can work on it.

100 words here, 500 words there - it all adds up. And even when you think you have no time to write, Try giving something up that you don't really need to do at this precise moment and use that time to write. You may laugh and think that you really don't have the time but you do - if you really want to be a writer. It's all about priorities and letting things go.

Of course there are some important things that you can't change, work commitments, children, elderly parents, to name but a few - but here is where you have to negotiate, delegate, reorganise and beg. There will always be something you can not do in order to get some writing time in instead......

Happy writing
