Julie's Quest

Hello, and welcome to my blog. My blog is about the trials and tribulations of writing, where we celebrate successes and commiserate our near misses. We tell it like it is here and will do our very best to help you on the road to being published and pick you up after the rejections (they will come!) Whether you are a professional or amateur writer you will find something useful here.

I hope you enjoy reading my posts and will visit again soon.

Happy Writing

Beat the Retreat

It's almost that time of year again. Time for the Wrekin Writer Retreat! That time honoured tradition when some of the more adventurous (read round the bend) members of Wrekin Writers decide to go off on a jolly, usually to Wales, to live life as a full-time writer (or how they think a full-time writer  lives) for a weekend.

I live for these retreats! They are like an oasis in the desert - a chance to do nothing but think about all things writing and do all things writing. Oh, and drink lots of alcohol (well, some of them do, okay most of them do!) As a group we meet once a month and it's difficukt to get to really talk to each other and get to know each other better (maybe that's not such a bad thing, though!)  No, it's always wonderful to spend more time together doing what we all love - eating - no, I mean writing.

If you've never been on a writing retreat I would fully reccomend it - if you like the other members of your writing group that is. And I do - they are a marvellous bunch and it's a pleasure to be going away with them which makes the whole retreating experience such a joy. We get up to all sorts and there's always a lot of laughter and high jinks (and then some) and most of all we get writing time - a luxury and a rarity. Boy do retreats take some organising but they are so worth while!

See you when I get back
