Julie's Quest

Hello, and welcome to my blog. My blog is about the trials and tribulations of writing, where we celebrate successes and commiserate our near misses. We tell it like it is here and will do our very best to help you on the road to being published and pick you up after the rejections (they will come!) Whether you are a professional or amateur writer you will find something useful here.

I hope you enjoy reading my posts and will visit again soon.

Happy Writing

Short Story Advice

I've found two excellent recent blog posts on short story writing for you. One is our lovely Della Galton http://dellagalton.co.uk where she lays to rest some myths, legends and old wives tales about writing short stories - she tells it like it is in the real world of trying to get your short stories published.

The second is over on http://womagwriter.blogspot.com about the new DCT contracts being offered for short stories they want to publish. Now, there has been a lot of controversy and differences in opinion over these contracts, mostly borne from myth and legend that has abounded over these contracts. This blog post untangles the myth from the truth so you can see what the contracts actually mean in real terms. What are the consequences of these contracts for writers whether they accept them or not? It's an interesting question - what do you think about it?
