Julie's Quest

Hello, and welcome to my blog. My blog is about the trials and tribulations of writing, where we celebrate successes and commiserate our near misses. We tell it like it is here and will do our very best to help you on the road to being published and pick you up after the rejections (they will come!) Whether you are a professional or amateur writer you will find something useful here.

I hope you enjoy reading my posts and will visit again soon.

Happy Writing

Dark mornings and the nights are drawing in

Autumn  - I love it but I hate it too. I love the colours and tastes of Autumn - the subtle light, the  golds, browns, greens, yellows and reds, the mellowness after the flashy, showy, brazenness of summer.  But I hate it because it's getting colder and darker and Christmas is just around the corner.

But there's one thing I adore about Autumn above all else. It's a chance to shut the darkness out and hunker down to get some writing done. It's cold and dark outside so I no longer feel guilty that I should be out walking instead of writing. There can be few delights more satisfying than climbing into a pair of pyjamas, placing warm slippers on your feet, sipping a hot chocolate with the laptop out writing that first draft of that short story - and if it's only 6pm when you do it - who cares!

So, if the coming of Autumn and Winter in the not so far distance fills you with dread - think of it as an extension to your writing time and the excuse for more chocolate. After all, with the cold weather and lack of light, you need to keep your strength up! That's my excuse anyway .......

Happy slurping of hot chocolate whilst writing

Julie (who may very well be buying her first onsie soon).
